Haiti struggles to return to normal

As Haiti embarks upon its third week of recovering from a devastating quake, local residents are
struggling mightily for a return to normalcy.

Crowds of Haitians queued outside immigration service centers in an continued effort to leave the
country on Tuesday. Many others carried out daily searches for much needed relief. The US military
also resumed medical evacuation flights for critically injured earthquake victims. The move ends a five-
day suspension caused by a dispute over where to treat patients, and who would pay for their care.

An aircraft carrier and two other US ships have left the island after completing their relief missions as
well. Several other warships remain offshore to support the operation.

On Monday, the UN said it might take Haiti decades to recover, but added that the tragedy provides
an opportunity for Haitians to rebuild and improve their country.
