Hong Kong stocks close 1.26 pct higher

HONG KONG, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks closed higher on Monday, with the weighted index gaining 288. 97 points, or 1.26 percent, to end at 23,166.22.


The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened down at 22,832.05 and traded between 22,785.28 and 23,187.75 during the day's session. Turnover fell to 65.18 billion HK dollars from Friday's 66.31 billion HK dollars.


The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index went up 131.17, or 1.03 percent, to close at 12,888.27 HK dollars.


All four sub-indices gained ground. The Commerce and Industry sub-index rose 1.31 percent, the Finance added 1.16 percent, the Properties, 1.61 percent, the Utilities, 1.13 percent.


Heavyweight HSBC went up 0.38 percent to 80.05 HK dollars, and China Mobile edged up 0.06 percent to 78.25 HK dollars.


Chinese mainland lenders all closed higher. Bank of China increased 1.46 percent to 4.18 HK dollars. ICBC inched up 0.68 percent to 5.96 HK dollars. China Construction Bank gained 1.72 percent to 7.08 HK dollars. Bank of Communications rose 0.62 percent to 8.18 HK dollars.


PetroChina jumped 3.09 percent at 9.68 HK dollars, offshore oil producer CNOOC rose 1.66 percent at 17.16 HK dollars. Sinopec ended up 0.82 percent at 7.37 HK dollars.


Local developers rebounded. Sino Land jumped 3.94 percent to 15. 84 HK dollars. Hang Lung increased 3.17 percent to 35.80 HK dollars. Cheung Kong, a flagship of Hong Kong led by billionaire Li Ka-shing, was 2.00 percent higher at 117.10 HK dollars. Henderson moved up 0.28 percent to 54.65 HK dollars. SHK rose 1.59 percent to 128.00 HK dollars.


Li & Fung, a company engaged in export trading of consumer products, added 4.7 percent to 47.75 HK dollars. (7.765 HK dollars =1 U.S. dollar)
