Chrysler to recall 26,000 vehicles for fire risk concerns

WorldRich.net 10-10-25 English.news.cn

CHICAGO, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chrysler will recall 26,000 vehicles to inspect the potential power steering problem, which could cause a fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Wednesday.

NHTSA said on its website that the recall affects some 2010 models cars and trucks including the Chrysler 300 and Sebring, the Dodge Avenger, Challenger and Journey, along with 2011 Dodge Ram pickups.

The steering fluid hoses in the affected vehicles can separate at the crimped end and leak fluid onto hot engine components that could cause a fire, according to NHTSA.

Dealers will check and replace the power steering pressure hose in the recalled vehicles and make necessary repairs free of charge. The safety recall, which may affects 26,397 vehicles, is expected to begin this month. (yan)
